I had a vegetable balti with peshwari naan bread and lager. Two bottles of Stella. Popadoms, onion bhajis the lot. Not quite dinner in a restaurant or a pint in a beer garden but for now, it'll do.
We set off to see if Mint Lounge was open for takeaway food but it wasn't. The ten minute walk up there through Chorlton was weird. So many places closed with signs about Covid-19 on almost every door. Banks, shops, cafes, bars, one after another, all closed. There was a bloke having a cigarette outside the Irish bar; all the blinds were down. I suspect they might be doing a sneaky bit of business. Double Zero was open but for takeaway only by the looks of things. Seeing somewhere open was the exception rather than the rule of just a few weeks ago.
I called Charles to see if he was receiving visitors, he was a bit unsure but said yes, so we popped round and had a glass of wine with him while Paul was working. I know we shouldn't have done but it was the first time I'd been in someone's house for eleven days. We stayed apart and we're all pretty sure that we've not been in contact with anyone that's infected. I can see though that people's will is changing. We've been so careful and yet in the space of the last two days we've picked up planters, been to the garage for chocolate, been to a friend's house and collected a curry which we paid for in cash - practically unheard of at the moment.
